Clarænce 


Painchaud est un·e artiste travaillant et résidant à
Tiohti:áke/Mooniyang qui aborde des perspectives liées à l’écologie queer. Sa
pratique tentaculaire utilise l’écriture, la sculpture, les gestes performatifs
et la vidéo pour créer des fictions spéculatives sous forme d’installations. Iel
est présentement candidat·e à la maîtrise en pratique des arts visuels et
médiatiques à l’UQAM. Iel a été récipiendaire de nombreuses bourses et du
soutien du Conseil des arts du Canada. Son travail a entre autres été exposé en
solo à La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse à Montréal, au centre d’exposition
Caravansérail à Rimouski et à la galerie Art image à Gatineau.

également été commissaire pour la vitrine du centre d’artiste L’imprimerie avec
le collectif Les adventices en 2022 et forme avec Laurence Dauphinais le duo
Ecto qui présentera son travail aux Îles-de-la-Madeleine en 2023.

Clarænce 


Painchaud is an artist working and residing in Tiohti:áke/Mooniyang who
approaches perspectives related to queer ecology. Their sprawling practice uses
writing, sculpture, performative mouvement and video to create speculative
fictions to create installations. They are currently a candidate for a master's
degree in visual and media arts practice at UQAM. They have been the recipient
of numerous grants and of the support of the Canada Council for the Arts. Their
work has been exhibited at La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse in Montreal, at Caravansérail
in Rimouski and at the Art image gallery in Gatineau. 


Clarænce 


was also a curator
for the window showcase of the artist center L’imprimerie with the collective
Les adventices in 2022 and forms with Laurence Dauphinais the duo Ecto who will
present their work at Îles-de-la-Madeleine in 2023.

Dans sa pratique installative,


Clarænce 


Painchaud favorise la rencontre des arts imprimés, de la céramique, de la
matière organique et des matériaux récupérés pour donner forme à ses
recherches. La sorcière et la cyborg, utilisée comme archétypes de
puissance transformatrice, occupent un rôle important dans son travail. 


Clarænce 


crée
ou détruit au sein d’espaces ritualisés où des objets du quotidien deviennent
des symboles de pouvoir. Iel documente des
rituels performatifs qui s’articulent autour du soin et de la transformation en
lien avec la nature. 
Dans une approche d’écologie queer liée à la fiction
spéculative, 


Clarænce 


construit des mises en scène avec des reliques, des restes et
des récits suggérant une archéologie chimérique ou dévoilant des pratiques imaginaires.
Dans cette idée, iel cultive des végétaux fabuleux,
recueille de la mousse de polystyrène et raconte des histoires aux plantes pour
tenter de faire advenir des mondes préférables. &#38;nbsp;&#38;nbsp;

In their installation practice,


Clarænce 


Painchaud favors print media, ceramics, organic matter and found
materials to give shape to their research. The witch and the cyborg, used as archetypes
of transformative power, occupy an important role in their work. 


Clarænce 


creates
or destroys within ritualized spaces where everyday objects become symbols of
power. They document performative rituals that revolve around care and
transformation in connection with nature. 
In a queer ecology approach linked to
speculative fiction, 


Clarænce 


constructs stagings using storytelling, made-up relics
and phantasmagorical remains to suggest a chimerical archaeology or to reveal
imaginary practices. In this way, they cultivate florae, collect polystyrene
foam and tell stories to plants in an attempt to bring about preferable worlds.
